Electrical Damage. Loss Investigations. March, 1988.
Abstract: This article explains the six types of damage electrical
equipment may sustain. Examining the damage is critical and helps determine
liability. The six types of damage are: roasting, mechanical, overvoltage,
arc damage, bolted fault, and lightning. Most damage of electrical equipment
is not the result of one specific type, but usually a combination of types.
The article defines the six kinds of damage and explains how to detect them.
